What is Snoring and its causes?

Since there are many basic contributing factors that can be the root of the issue, the true cause of snoring may be difficult to figure out. In medical circles, snoring is defined as the disturbance produced by tremblings in the airway’s airways while a person is asleep. Why do we only go through snoring in our sleep?

We breathe all the time, but hardly ever snore while conscious and this is because only relaxed muscular tissue can cause snoring. When asleep, we relax our throat muscles and, since the throat is composed of soft tissue, this only exaggerates the sound of snoring. After the tissue has relaxed, the passageway of air will grow tighter, which causes loud noise because it permits more room for friction and for vibration to occur. These same factors are also pointed to as the reasons why there are differences in the volume, pitch and timber of snores.

This answers why infants are subject to snoring as well. All the same, theirs is not usually considered as snoring but only as mild noises created by the airway. This must never be neglected though since it could be a sign that something is jammed in your child’s air passage.

Older males are more likely to be affected by snoring even though it can be observed in people of any age and any sex. It is thought males snore more than women owing to the way that they are built. Males are inclined to have bigger and necks that are normally more weighty than a women’s. Snoring can be induced by this, combined with the speed of air. Women, on the other hand, naturally develop progesterone hormones, which are known to suppress snoring - they are therefore less likely to produce irritating sounds. Because this actual hormone helps in relieving a person from this nighttime dilemma, some anti-snoring devices are known to employ progesterone as their basic element.

Other factors can add to the problem. Rare snorers may determine that it is the effect of a Cold or Flu. Nevertheless we should not overlook the fact that weight is a likely factor, with numerous sufferers - male and female - being obese, particularly around the midriff. Medical conditions like allergies and the overuse of nasal sprays can also chip in as can medicinal drugs that start relaxation but individuals with overlarge tongues are likewise likely to snore. Such self-inflicted troubles, suffered by tobacco users and heavy drinkers, present another potential cause of snoring. These are merely some of the potential reasons - if you aren’t in one of these groups, there is in all probability another explanation for it.
