Resveratrol- Curtailing The Pancreatic Cancerous Cell Growth

The researches conducted recently has suggested resveratrol which is found in the grape skin makes the pancreatic cancer cell weak and thereby enhances their susceptibility to chemotherapy.

Pancreatic cells have been known to be defiant to the chemotherapy. The researchers have explored that pancreas repeatedly produces digestive enzymes and drains these enzymes into duodenum. These enzymes washes away the chemicals of chemotherapy prior to them make any impact.

As per the study available in the journal, by the name Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology, Paul Okunieff, head at the at the University of Rochester Medical Center, confirmed that resveratrol has a healing put on as it makes the cancer cells more receptive to radiation and at the same time makes normal tissues least susceptible. When the pancreatic cancer cells are treated with the chemical compound resveratrol, the function of proteins of the cell membrane accountable for this draining are hampered. Apart from becoming extremely receptive to chemotherapy, the probability of the cells to undergo an involuntary death also enhances due to amplified manufacture of reactive oxygen species. The reason behind diminished draining activity is not lucid; it is probable that it might be due to another effect of the treatment of resveratrol.

As a compound which is a constituent of the red wine, resveratrol has gained a lot of attention for holding several researches. Similar to other anti-oxidants resveratrol eliminates free radicals. Free radicals are known to be associated with cancer, irritation linked with cardiovascular diseases along with the aging effects.
